Medical Services
As well as general medical services we also offer the following services:
Extended Access Clinics
All our patients now have access to an extended hours service provided by local HUB (BB HealthCare) offering GP and Nurse appointments from 6:30pm to 8pm on weekdays & also Saturdays 8:00 am till 18:00 pm. Please speak to a receptionist who can give you further details on the extended clinics available & is able to book you an appointment if required.
Asthma & Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease Management
These are designed to monitor and improve the care of your breathing problems, with advice on inhaler technique and medication. We carry out spirometry for lung function test where necessary.
Cervical Smear Tests
These can be arranged with the nurse.
Diabetic Management
Our practice nurse is trained in the specific needs of diabetic patients and offers regular advice and health assessment.
Minor Surgery
By arrangement with a doctor.
Joints and Soft Tissue Steroid Injections
We can give joint and soft tissue steroid injections. By arrangement with a doctor.
Coronary Heart Disease Management
Doctor/Practice nurse runs this clinic for those with established heart disease.
Maternity Care
Care during pregnancy and postnatal checks are organised with the help of the Community Midwifery team. Ask the reception for details.
Childhood Immunisation
All routine vaccinations are done in our clinic, up to and including the pre-school booster.
Child Health Surveillance
We carry out a six week health check on all babies. You will make booking for this baby check. You will be invited to bring your baby to the surgery for this. Please bring your babies Red Book along.
Well Man/Well Woman check
These are with the practice nurse during which your blood pressure, urine, height and weight will be checked and any advice regarding diet etc. will be given. You may also be offered an ECG and any relevant blood tests.
Flu Vaccinations
The Department of Health recommend the following groups have this injection:
- Chronic Heart Disease
- Chronic Respiratory Problems (asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema)
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Diabetes Mellitus
- All patients aged over 65 years
Clinics normally start early September. Please look out for information posters and book your appointment early.
Smoking Cessation
We have a local referral policy to Vitality Group which provides help and advice to those wishing to give up smoking.
Hypertension
Regular blood pressure monitoring for those patients who require it.
Nurse Clinics
Practice Nurse runs clinics for:
- childhood immunisations
- flu jabs
- cervical smears
- asthma annual checks
- COPD annual check
- spirometry
- ECG
- family planning advice (including pill start, pill check, Depo-Provera injections)
- minor aliments consultations
- chronic disease monitoring
- lifestyle advice on diet, exercise, smoking cessation and CVD risk reduction
- new patient check
- well man and well women checks
- wound management
Non NHS / Private Medical Examinations
A GP practice can also offer a number of non-NHS services which are generally paid for by the patient
or their company. These services can include:
- Insurance claims forms
- Passport signing
- Prescription for taking medication abroad
- Private sick notes
- Sports, pre-employment, fitness certificates and HGV medicals
- Vaccination certificates ect..
We can provide some private non NHS work to our patients. A fee, as recommended by the British Medical Association, is payable for these examinations. Please check with the reception which private services are offered at the surgery. For e.g. HGV/PSV driver/Taxi medical, insurance medicals, pre-employment, fitness for sports, fitness to travel etc can be arranged with an appointment. Click here for more details
